Outreach at the Soulful Living Oasis
It's Dream Season at the Soulful Living Oasis, and we are encouraging you to plant a seed to make someone else's dream become a reality.
Mission Critical Missions
Mission Critical Missions a faith-based humanitarian project spun from Superior Soulutions Global Ministries as a movement designed to help people that are in crisis situations. The seed to create the mission was planted in 2002 when founder, Deborah Oresegun, traveled to her husband's birthplace and her ancestor's roots, Africa. It was in Nigeria that she witnessed extreme poverty, homelessness, food-shortages, and many other community ailments at a broad scale. It reminded her of her childhood struggles in the projects of America and re-sparked a burning desire within her to do something positive to make a difference in the world.
God spoke to her about the situation and the message was "these are my people and their situation is Mission Critical." She took it as a call to action for herself as well an opportunity for others like her to help. As the seed was planted in her, she knew that the roots would lie in both Africa and America plus beyond because crisis situations like these have taken hold of many communities around the world. The wings of Mission Critical Missions seek to spread its' message of hope for humanity to all hearts who have an ear to hear. You are invited to be a part of a mission to restore financial, emotional, educational, social, and spiritual life to people by sharing your gift of funds, time, are talent.
Mission Critical Missions designs programs based on the specific needs of the individuals, groups or families including educational workshops, life coaching, and volunteer services. Some of the projects that we are proud to be a part of are below:
Mission Critical Missions for Children is
sponsoring an Atlanta, Georgia family of five young children whose
mother was diagnosed in September 2004 with Pulmonary Hypertension,
a rare life threatening disease affecting the lungs and blood vessels.
We are praying with the family, coaching the mother, and providing
the children with clothing, education supplies, toys and subsidizing
their financial needs. There are many opportunities to be a part of
this fulfilling mission.
Mission Critical Missions for Youth has created a scholarship fund for teenagers and young adults who are striving yet barely surviving at times as they struggle to continue and complete their valuable under graduate education. This year our program is partnering with the Jermaine Dossie Drum Major Youth Leadership Foundation, a program created to encourage academic achievement, Christ-like character, and perseverance over the odds, caused by financial challenges, tragedies, family dysfunction, and many other struggles. This foundation, founded by his mother Sonya Globe was inspired to honor the memory of the beloved son, brother, friend, scholar, leader and drum major who fulfilled his life mission, December 7, 1979-November 13, 2002. Jermaine's life inspired thousands of young people that admired, loved and respected him as the drum major at Jackson State University and Southwest Dekalb High School marching bands.
An annual scholarship award up to $5000 is granted to two individuals that demonstrate the same type of tenacity to support them in reaching their higher education goals. The 2005 recipients are two extremely deserving young ladies: Jermaine's sister, Timeshia Elica Globe, a junior at Florida A & M University and Titilayo Olatunji, a second year business student at Lagos University in Nigeria. We invite support these young people in pursuing their education goals.
Mission Critical Missions for Africa is in the process of evaluating shelters and helping agencies in Nigeria to establish an alliance for supplying them with a variety of goods from clothes to educational supplies to support Nigerians who are in mission critical situations. We anticipate establishing this partnership by January 2005. We welcome your input and donations.
